Sustainability Report
Our Sustainability Report is a testament to our commitment to increased transparency, accountability and driving purposeful change aligned to Sustainable Development Goals, the UN’s Global Compact principles, GRI indicators and the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures.
Strategy
Our ESG strategy is based on ongoing independent benchmarking, gap analysis, target setting and transparent reporting on high and medium priority areas including alignment with GRI indicators and future verification of non-financial KPIs by external auditors
Grit Foundation
The Grit Foundation strives to deliver real and measurable social impact to the people of Africa by creating and supporting social initiatives that empower people to make a real and lasting difference in their own lives and the communities around them.
Safety
Setting the benchmark in health and safety is core to our ESG strategy. Grit creates and provides a safe and healthy work and living environment for our stakeholders by implementing ISO45001 health and safety standards and ongoing Health and Safety training across all levels of the organisation.
Performance
We continuously measuring our non-financial performance against international benchmarks such as the EPRA Sustainability Indicators and internal goals to track delivery against objectives and the impact that initiatives have. These include carbon emissions, building efficiency, gender equality and local representation.
Carbon footprint
Our focus for the following years will be to consolidate our carbon footprint methodology to include all scope 1 and scope 2 emissions sources according to the GHG protocol. The result of this exercise will allow us to review our target and guide us in the consolidation of our Net Zero Pathway which include renewable energy strategies.
Innovation
The use of technology and 4IR innovations are increasingly important in reducing our corporate and portfolio’s carbon footprint whilst supporting the incorporation of energy efficient designs that optimise natural elements and building materials in our developments that support staff wellbeing, overall health and performance.
